AFTERCARE

Our artists have different aftercare routines and these are the three main types of aftercare methods:

DRY HEALING

Tattoo dry-healing is going through the usual aftercare routine to help your tattoo heal without using any ointments, creams, or lotions that your tattoo artist may recommend. You simply just let it heal in the open air.

This is the oldest aftercare method out there, and some tattoo artists still recommend them. However, this method can cause your skin to itch or burn, scab deeply, and get extremely dry.

MOISTURIZED HEALING (RECOMMENDED)

This is the method that we usually recommend as we think it’s better than dry-healing. For this method, you have to apply a thin amount of tattoo ointment on your new tattoo regularly until it heals. This prevents your skin from drying and helps you avoid itchiness and scarring.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Three hours after getting your tattoo, remove the plastic wrap and wash it gently. Use warm water and mild soap like Cetaphil or Dove liquid soap (highly recommended for those with sensitive skin).
  2. Pat dry your skin with a kitchen towel or tissue only. Don’t use a regular bath towel as it may get infected with bacteria or cotton pulp will stick to your new tattoo.
  3. Wash your hands thoroughly with a soap and then proceed with applying a very thin layer of tattoo aftercare ointment.
  4. Apply the aftercare ointment, about 2 to 3 times a day after washing your tattoo.
  5. Do the routine and use the ointment 7 to 10 days until your tattoo is done peeling.
  6. Switch to a good lotion or moisturizer to keep your tattoo vibrant and moisturized.

BANDAGE/WRAP HEALING

Bandage or wrap healing is one of the most convenient aftercare methods. For this one, you have to use a breathable, medical-grade, and waterproof tattoo bandage for about 7 days. We highly recommend Saniderm for this.

Here’s how we do it:

  1. After your session, your artist will clean your tattoo and wrap it with a bandage like Saniderm.
  2. Within 24 hours, your skin will release a fluid called plasma (ink sak). This is a normal part of the process and is expected.
  3. After 24 hours, remove the bandage while you’re having a shower, or while your tattooed skin is under running water.
  4. Wash it gently with warm water and mild soap and make sure there’s no residue left.
  5. Pat it dry with a kitchen towel.
  6. Make sure you’ve washed your hands, too, then, cover your tattoo again with a bandage.
  7. Remove the bandage again after 6 days.
  8. After that, you can now start moisturizing your new tattoo.
